Hinterland: A fantasy novel.
When bounty hunter Sean Kelly kills an assassin for revenge
and the body mysteriously disappears, he faces prosecution, loses his job, and wonders if he might be losing his sanity as
well. After lamenting his woes in a pub late one stormy night, he stumbles half-drunk out the door.
His collar turned up against an onslaught of rain, Sean instead finds himself squinting up at the hot sunlight
of a country called Hinterland.
Through trick of fate and his own missteps, Sean
ends up a political prisoner of Hinterland's queen. Fortunately, he foils an attempt on her life and gains his freedom. She turns him loose to find the attacker on the condition that he swear her absolute loyalty. However,
as he travels the continent searching for the assassin, he finds it a difficult oath to keep.
The plot against the crown is
more widespread than one man can solve, and Sean can't convince himself that the rebels are entirely in the wrong. By the time he finally catches up
to the assassin, full-on war breaks out and Sean must choose between saving his queen or stopping the war.

Book I - Sovereign Legacy
Twin college
students Aidan and Kaelin are looking forward to a relaxing summer vacation, but a stranger named Julian, who claims
to be their uncle, picks them up at the airport. By the time they arrive home, their house has burned to the ground and they
find themselves on the run from their own father, whom they believed to be dead. They learn from Julian that they have inherited posts as Rangers in Sentinel,
a mercenary organization, and that they were secreted away from Sentinel by their mother nineteen years before.
Sentinel
is about to become embroiled in a war against its sworn enemy, Maliquium, and the twins are thrust into an intensive training
program. Despite their odd affinity for their new lives, secrets are rampant
in Sentinel and the twins are left to wonder what dangerous agenda their newfound family has in store
for them.

II - Taming the Tiger
Aidan and
Kaelin have spent nearly a year recovering from the first battle of the war and completing their training. Aidan is honing his skills
as Seer and Kaelin has rejoined Sentinel Field Ops when they learn that an Assembly Elder has been murdered. After openly
suggesting Senator Warrick Oman as a suspect, Aidan is attacked.
While Aidan
fights for his life, Kaelin reluctantly accompanies his uncle and sister to Warrick Oman's estate for a War Council.
He is assigned a new mission to infiltrate the recently formed terrorist organization, Mosaic. There, he faces dangerous
truths about the enemy and himself. After Aidan is captured by the enemy, revelations about what he's becoming leave
Kaelin too betrayed to return to his family and life in Sentinel.

III - The True Ternion
The backlash
from the battle at the house Incendia scattered the Trevet Legacy across the globe. Even the powerful, secret
sub-group Aranae Meton seems to be disabled.
After Kaelin
is captured and condemned to death by the Assembly Trial Council, he is rescued by his sister and the Oman sisters.
But he's hardly safe. It seems everyone is after him, from MI5 to his own kind. He realizes his own redemption and the
only hope at finding his missing brother lies within the dangerous enemy cabal Mosaic.
Meanwhile,
the demon Maliquium has Personified and has dangerous plans for his prisoner, the young Seer Aidan. No
one knows whether Aidan has gained enough control over his unpredictable Sight to resist Maliquium or if his talent will become yet
another tool for the powerful demon, but the Aranae Meton has one last trump card and they are ready to play it.

IV - The Grayblades
Having lost
so many senior Rangers to the war effort, Sentinel is desperate to replenish their ranks. Everyone is given more responsibility.
Even Kaelin has regained a tenuous respect , and he concentrates on his orders to form the Grayblade Corps, an elite Sentinel
fighting force.
After losing
his lover, Maloirie, Aidan is too haunted to sleep. He hunts the Simulacri by night, his judgement seems impaired, and
everyone is worried about their missing Legacy members. Suddenly, the new Principle asks Aidan to marry her
for political reasons and Aidan agrees.
Despite the
distractions of a diminished Assembly, Aidan's upcoming marriage, and infighting among their own kind, the
twins think they are closing in on Maliquium's endgame. At last, they put the significance of Maliquium's
actions into a cohesive, frightening whole. Aidan feels sure he can hunt the demon down and stop him, but to do so will
surely carry a dear cost.
